Holtz Children’s Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the southeast United States. The hospital is known worldwide for its critical care, neonatal intensive care, pediatric multi‑organ transplant, kidney transplant, and heart programs. It partners with the University of Miami and the Miami Transplant Institute to train the most pediatric physicians and provide comprehensive care.
Summary
The Director of Patient Care Services Level 3 is responsible for planning, coordination, management, and evaluation of patient and staff education across the Jackson Health System (JHS).
Provides leadership and fosters collaboration with patient care services, directors, and vice presidents to ensure a quality education program.
Offers opportunities for staff growth through learning, mentorship, research, and professional development.
Responsibilities
Lead planning, directing, and improving division services responsive to JHS needs.
Develop and implement programs to guarantee appropriate patient care.
Support communication and integration of JHS Mission and Vision Statement.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission and Florida State licensing standards.
Develop and evaluate comprehensive quality care programs.
Elevate nursing practice through innovative strategies.
Develop and monitor departmental budget including personnel, services, supplies, and capital equipment.
Analyze current and future service needs for JHS and community.
Set departmental goals and target dates.
Recruit, motivate, evaluate, and retain effective staff.
Provide training, education, and development for staff advancement.
Maintain collaborative relationships with professional and support staff.
Support Performance Improvement Program execution.
Continuously assess and improve quality of patient services.
Establish performance standards and evaluate personnel accordingly.
Perform all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience. Management experience is required.
Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. At least one degree must be in Nursing.
Credentials
Valid Florida RN license is required.
Advanced Nursing Administration certification is preferred.
Leaders performing direct patient care must have a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any applicable life‑support certification, with at least 6‑month validity upon hire and maintained for the duration of employment at JHS.
