Shift details: Full-Time, Variable days/nights (120 hrs/month)
Why Jackson Jackson Memorial Hospital is the flagship hospital for Jackson Health System, a world‑class teaching medical center with 1,500 beds, serving over 100,000 ED visits annually.
We are currently engaged in a $300 million construction project for a new 130,000 sq‑ft emergency department expansion, opening early 2026.
Summary The Attending Physician provides medical management of patient care programs, maintains communication with medical staff, nursing, social work, and management, and coordinates development and evaluation of patient care standards.
Responsibilities
Perform medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment; provide direct patient care and complete all required medical record documentation.
Work scheduled shifts, possibly rotating through the system; prescribe pharmaceuticals and manage treatment regimens.
Direct and coordinate patient care activities of nursing and support staff; follow departmental policies, QI and safety standards; attend medical staff meetings and committees.
Participate in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs; provide consultative services and maintain standards of acceptable medical practice.
Participate in educational programs, patient decision‑making, and meet productivity standards; attend conferences and continuing education.
Collaborate with radiology, pathology, surgery, oncology, and nursing; perform credentialed procedures per protocol.
Adhere to standards of excellence, confidentiality, HIPAA, and JHS policies.
Maintain current knowledge of procedures, instruments and equipment; demonstrate service excellence and CARE values.
Experience Generally requires 3–5 years of related experience.
Education Doctorate in Medicine (MD or DO) required; Emergency Medicine residency; ABEM/AOBEM required or eligible.
Credentials
Florida Medical License
Active DEA and board certification; specialty certifications are a plus.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS/ATLS certifications required on hire with 6‑month validity and maintained throughout employment.
