Schedule and Compensation 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday 8:30-5:00 or 9:00-5:30. Pays $23.48 per hour DOE. Retention payment: $3,000.00 upfront, $1,000.00 at 12 months, $2,000.00 at 24 months.
Location 444 Harrison Ave / PSI Shelters & community‑based work.
Summary of Position The Housing Stabilization Case Manager (HSCS) works within a case management team to develop and execute sustainable, expeditious housing plans for clients in transitional housing or permanent housing. The role includes providing community‑based services to formerly homeless clients, engaging them to reduce barriers and develop individualized housing plans, and ensuring accurate entry of guest information into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The HSCS must deliver exceptional customer service, collaborate with PSI departments, and uphold the mission to eliminate homelessness.
Principles Guiding the Role
All people experiencing homelessness, regardless of housing history, can achieve stability in permanent housing.
Everyone is “housing ready”; sobriety, treatment compliance or clean record are not required to succeed in housing.
Leverage guests’ strengths, assets, and connections to move quickly out of shelters.
Recognize the impact of violence and victimization on development and coping strategies.
Employ an empowerment model, maximize choice and control over recovery.
Create a respectful, safe, and accepting atmosphere.
Emphasize strengths, resilience and cultural competence.
Minimize re‑traumatization and involve guests in service design.
Requirements Education / Training – Required BSW, BA or BS in a human services related field, or high school diploma + 3+ years equivalent experience.
Preferred
Bilingual – Spanish/English or Haitian‑Creole.
Certification, training, or formal education in counseling/case management.
Knowledge / Experience – Required
Minimum 2 years delivering services to a challenged population, often with addiction or untreated mental health concerns.
Strong computer and math skills; familiarity with MS Word and Excel.
Practical experience collaborating with homeless individuals to create housing plans and service plans.
Experience accessing housing opportunities & subsidy programs.
Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues.
Knowledge / Experience – Preferred
Experience with Motivational Interviewing, Trauma‑Informed Care, Harm Reduction, Housing First, and Change Theory.
Experience helping individuals with budgeting.
Knowledge of Rapid Re‑Housing.
Additional Referrals increase your chances of interviewing.
