Summary The VA North Texas Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Physician (Section Chief-Ambulatory Care Service) at the Tyler VA Primary Care Clinic – Tyler, Texas. The Section Chief will lead health care professionals to provide primary care to Veteran patients.

Responsibilities

The Section Chief is assigned to the Associate Chief of Staff – Ambulatory Care Service and will be responsible for the overall day-to-day supervision of assigned primary care providers.

He/she will be required to travel between Community Based Outpatient Clinics under this section as needed and will supervise one or more CBOC’s.

The Podiatrist (PACT) is accountable for adhering to established policies and standards of care/practice in evaluating, tracking, and following up on patient care.

The Podiatrist collaborates with health care professionals to provide longitudinal case management of the PCPs entire PACT panel with independent care delivery for acute/same‑day needs or when otherwise requested by the PCP.

Provide independent care delivery for chronic, acute, and same‑day medical needs.

Provide care for veteran populations with diseases consistent with the general population – e.g., diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, mental health disorders, etc.

Write orders for diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, consult with specialty services, and utilize computerized/electronic medical records.

Perform health risk assessment, goal setting for prevention, and chronic disease management.

Focus on preventive medicine with a goal of improving patient outcomes, coordination of care, reducing clinic wait times and appropriate resource use.

Provide direct patient care—including history and physicals, medication management, evaluation of diagnostic tests, treatment planning, and clinical reminder completion as applicable.

Act as a leader in the PACT approach to care delivery, emphasizing a team‑based approach.

Oversee PACT compliance with Message Manager, MyHealtheVet, and encounter completion.

Proficient in tele‑health to-home visits (VA Video Connect) and comprehensive women's health care.

Document all medical information in an electronic medical record.

Perform medication reconciliation.

Other duties as assigned.

Work schedule: Monday – Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.). VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
