Qualifications
United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree; degree must be from an approved school.
Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Completed residency in an ACGME/AOA accredited core specialty training program eligible for board certification. (Additional details about qualified physician residents omitted for brevity.)
Proficiency in pain procedures (RF ablation, LESI, SNRB, ESI, MBB, joint/bursa injections, etc.).
Board certification or eligibility preferred; pain fellowship trained preferred.
Strong communication skills in spoken and written English.
Physical requirements include heavy lifting (≥45 lb), heavy carrying (≥45 lb), straight pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, and bending for up to 4 hours.
Duties
Administer anesthesia and provide continuous monitoring to patients undergoing surgery or procedures.
Perform airway management, regional anesthesia, and endotracheal intubation/extubation.
Develop anesthetic plans, obtain necessary monitoring, and manage intra‑operative and post‑operative care.
Manage postoperative pain for any anesthetized patient.
Document patient status in anesthesia records and maintain compliance with controlled substance regulations.
Teach and evaluate residents and students and assume accountability for medication management.
Work Monday‑Friday 7:00 am–3:30 pm; on‑call duties on some weekdays and weekends.
