Description of College/Department/Program/Division/Unit
The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) includes departments and programs in the humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies, as well as departments in the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA). CASSH/VPA continues the established liberal studies tradition of providing curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree.
CASSH/VPA is dedicated to providing quality innovative instruction and creative learning experiences which prepare students for future careers and education. More broadly, such learning allows students to continue to develop meaningful, responsible lives. Graduates of the college will have developed the ability to communicate effectively, think critically, conduct sound research, understand complex issues, use knowledge in all aspects of life, participate meaningfully as global citizens, and discover and apply carefully considered values.

Position Summary
Under general supervision of the department chair, a person in this position is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing for and holding classes (face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online), teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. In addition, workload may involve advising students and/or providing other service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
The Environmental Studies Program in the College of Liberal Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is soliciting qualified candidates for the position of Associate Lecturer. Teaching assignments will be made for one semester and can be renewed, depending upon program needs. Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary minor at the university, which includes courses in the humanities, social and natural sciences. Our minors include students from departments across the university.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in environmental studies or a related area (except in rare circumstances where post-baccalaureate certification or licensure or a baccalaureate plus experience can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position). Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to quality classroom instruction and prior teaching experience. All persons hired for Academic Instruction will be required to submit all of their official copies of their transcripts to Human Resources upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate or other terminal degree. College-level teaching experience. Expertise in the area of the arts, humanities, social sciences, or environmental sustainability.
Pay Basis : Academic (9 Mo)
