Core Responsibilities

Performs quantitative analyses of brain scans, which requires proficiency in neuroanatomy. Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data and behavioral/cognitive testing. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. Presents timely research data at lab meetings. Contributes research data to publications, grant submissions, and conference presentations. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Hiring Standards

Bachelor's degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years. Expertise in neuroanatomy and the quantitative analyses of brain scans (magnetic resonance imaging). Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member, and to communicate effectively with laboratory staff and investigators. Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment. Demonstrated ability to work in and to foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with a major in biology, animal science, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or related disciplines. Salary Range

$18.00 - $20.00 FLSA Exemption Status
