Overview
Marketing/Communications Manager - Full-time, Exempt White Bear Center for the Arts is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Marketing/Communications Manager to lead our marketing, design, and communication efforts to boost visibility, engage the community, and support organizational goals. The ideal candidate is an organized, visually driven storyteller with copywriting skills and a passion for engaging the community through the arts. This position works closely with all departments, including programming, development, and exhibitions—and plays a key role in promoting classes and events, elevating our brand, and expanding our reach. About WBCA: Founded in 1968, White Bear Center for the Arts is a thriving non-profit community art center, serving our creative community for over 50 years. WBCA offers over 1,000 art classes in a variety of mediums taught by over 150 professional teaching artists, and a dozen free gallery shows per year within our three gallery spaces. Details Position: Marketing/Communications Manager (40 hours/week)
Hours: Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends
Office: Located in White Bear Lake
Salary: $46,500 - $51,000
Reports to: Executive Director
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications: Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies to support programs, events, fundraising, and exhibitions.
Marketing & Communications: Manage and update WBCA’s website content, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency.
Marketing & Communications: Take photos and/or videos of classes and events.
Marketing & Communications: Plan, create, and schedule content across all social media platforms; monitor engagement and analytics.
Marketing & Communications: Develop mailing lists or purchase acquisition mailings for direct mailing campaigns and promotions.
Marketing & Communications: Promoting classes and events internally and externally (to current students and a wider audience).
Marketing & Communications: Write and design WBCA’s weekly art email newsletter.
Marketing & Communications: Create and manage Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google Ads campaigns; track performance using Google Analytics and adjust strategies as needed.
Graphic Design: Design visually compelling marketing collateral, including the triannual class catalog, annual report, flyers, social graphics, and signage.
Graphic Design: Ensure all marketing materials align with brand guidelines and maintain a high standard of visual and editorial quality.
Graphic Design: Write clear, engaging, and grammatically correct copy for print and digital use, including press releases, ads, and internal/external communications.
Media & Public Relations: Maintain relationships with local and regional media contacts.
Media & Public Relations: Write and distribute press releases for events, exhibitions, and major news.
Media & Public Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for press inquiries and media coverage.
Media & Public Relations: Contribute a monthly article to a local publication, highlighting stories that connect our work to the broader community.
Required Qualifications
Proficient in photography and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite: Lightroom, InDesign, Express).
Knowledge of digital advertising platforms (Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads) and web analytics tools (Google Analytics).
Strong copywriting, editorial, and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to grammar and detail.
Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
A collaborative spirit and the ability to work with other departments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in arts or cultural organizations.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp or a similar email marketing platform).
Experience with website content management systems (e.g., Wordpress or similar).
Experience designing multi-page publications (e.g., catalogs, reports).
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $46,500 - $51,000
Paid Time Off (PTO) and sick time available.
