Social Worker – Contra Costa County
Contra Costa County’s Employment and Human Services Department is seeking talented and qualified individuals to fill seventeen (17) Social Worker vacancies.
Position Overview The department works to provide the community with resources that support, protect, and empower individuals and families to achieve self‑sufficiency. Candidates must share our core values of exceptional customer service, open communication, embracing change, ethical behavior, and diversity.
Key Responsibilities
Completing needs assessments within necessary time limits
Identifying barriers and referring appropriate resources to clients that promote and improve their health, wellness and safety
Managing a caseload and addressing changes and needs of recipients
Conducting home visits
Accurate completion of mandatory forms and notices
Reading, interpreting, and applying rules and regulations appropriately
Performing liaison work to assist clients with resolutions regarding other agencies and providing necessary supportive services
Qualifications
Compassionate and treats all clients with dignity and respect
Maintains confidentiality
Technologically proficient and thrives in a paperless environment
Adaptable to change and able to adjust priorities to serve the needs of the community
Committed to equity and inclusion
Great communicator
Works effectively with the community, other agencies and departments
License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License (Out‑of‑state license accepted during the application process)
Education: Successful completion of at least 60 semester units (or 90 quarter units) from an accredited college or university, including 9 semester units (or 12 quarter units) in psychology, social work, child development, human development, sociology, social welfare, gerontology, behavioral health, or a closely related field
Experience: Two (2) years of full‑time or equivalent social casework or case management experience in a recognized public or non‑profit social services, health, or human services agency
