Overview
Settlement Recovery Specialist
to join its growing team. This is a critical, behind-the-scenes role ensuring that clients receive the maximum value from their settlements by meticulously managing post-settlement obligations. If you are exceptionally detail-oriented and thrive on precise, complex problem-solving in a fast-paced legal environment, this opportunity is for you. Responsibilities
Lien & Reimbursement Management: Review personal injury and workers' compensation case files to identify and proactively address potential third-party reimbursement rights, including health and disability insurance liens. Audit & Advocacy: Critically analyze payment histories and subrogation demands for accuracy. Dispute all unrelated, excessive, or legally invalid claims to maximize the client's net recovery. Negotiation & Resolution: Prepare detailed reimbursement projections and actively collaborate with the legal team to negotiate significant lien reductions with insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid, and private subrogation vendors. Compliance & Distribution: Ensure all final third-party distribution orders are accurately prepared and fully comply with state and federal legal standards. Platform Administration: Manage and maintain current records across various online claim resolution platforms and remain informed of continuously evolving state and federal lien policies and procedural guidelines. Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for external communication regarding lien resolution with outside law firms, subrogation entities, and insurance providers. Required Skills & Experience
Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in an administrative, clerical, or analyst role, preferably within a legal, insurance, or medical billing/coding setting. Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required Analytical Aptitude: Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail are non-negotiable, with a proven ability to identify discrepancies and advocate for financial accuracy. Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including experience with Client Relationship Management (CRM) or case management software (e.g., Litify, Clio, Filevine, etc.) is highly preferred. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial and legal concepts clearly to internal and external parties. Preferred Knowledge: Previous familiarity with lien resolution, subrogation processes, personal injury settlement distribution, or Medicare/Medicaid regulations is a significant advantage.
