Deputy Managing Editor – Investigative Journalism This is a leadership role within a mission-driven multimedia organization. MPR produces award-winning news, information, and music programming and is committed to courageous, impactful reporting that serves the public interest. The Deputy Managing Editor (DME) guides the APM Reports team within MPR News, a national award-winning unit of investigative and documentary reporters, producers, and editors. The DME leads essential investigative journalism across channels, mentors staff, upholds journalism excellence, and collaborates with the supervisor to set coverage plans and deliverables. The role requires strong communication, expertise in investigative and data reporting, and partnership development, and involves coordinating with stakeholders, teams, and departments to manage stories from conception to publication. This role may involve working with local investigative journalism partners and assisting in grant reporting and foundation relations. The position is based in Minnesota with occasional night, weekend, and holiday work.
