Coach – Girls JV Softball – Independence High School
East Side Union High School District is looking for a Frosh‑Soph/JV Head Coach to lead our girls’ junior varsity softball team. The coach will work under the Athletic Director and the site principal, collaborating with the varsity head coach and staff to develop a strong program.
Description of Basic Functions and Responsibilities
Demonstrate successful coaching experience or college playing experience in softball, as well as high school playing and assistant coaching experience.
Instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork in student‑athletes.
Communicate effectively with parents, students, staff, and the community.
Design and organize practices, conditioning program, and team activities.
Follow CIF/CCSBVAL Coaches Code of Conduct, BVAL policies and district guidelines.
Maintain and inventory equipment and uniforms.
Help students balance academic workload with athletic commitment.
Work cooperatively with other coaches in the sport program.
Adhere to district protocols for cash handling and other administrative duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Playing experience in softball at high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
Experience coaching youth leagues, middle school, or sports camps.
State of California coaching certification.
Annual mandated reporter training.
Pass District Fingerprint clearance.
Professional references.

Pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results, valid CPR, First Aid, ASEP, SCA, Heat Illness Prevention, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Integrated Pest Management, and Concussion certifications prior to employment.
Coaching of second team (same season) allowed at 50% of Category I, II or III compensation, subject to lifting of restrictions and team’s authorized participation.
Provide Letter of Introduction.
