Job Description The Varsity Coach is responsible for developing the team's skills, instilling commitment, discipline, and teamwork, and ensuring compliance with CIF/CCS and BVAL Coaches Code of Conduct. The coach works with parents, students, staff, and the community, and reports to the Athletic Director under the direction of the site principal.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of fundamental, advanced skills, and techniques for softball.
Organizes practices and designs conditioning programs tailored to the sport.
Manages coaching activities, follows district guidelines and policies.
Maintains positive communication with parents, administrators, staff, and students.
Instills commitment, discipline, and teamwork across varied athletic ability and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Supports students in balancing academic workload with athletic commitments.
Handles district fiscal procedures for fundraising, purchasing supplies, and paying tournament fees.
Maintains and inventories equipment and uniforms to ensure safety and minimize loss.
Follows CIF/CCS BVAL Coaches Code of Conduct and district policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Playing experience in softball at high school, collegiate, amateur or professional level.
High school coaching experience at Junior Varsity level or youth leagues/middle school in softball.
Current California State coaching certifications.
Current certifications required by the district including annual mandated reporter training.
Pass District Fingerprint clearance.
Professional references.
Requirements / Qualifications
Complete the Edjoin online application.
Submit a cover letter and resume.
Provide current TB test results, valid CPR, First Aid, ASEP, SCA, Heat Illness Prevention, Mandated Reporter, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Integrated Pest Management, and Concussion certifications prior to employment.
Coach of Second Team (same season – 50% over Category I, II or III); compensation conditional on lifting restrictions and authorized participation.
Provide letter of introduction.
