At Soho House a Lead Line Cook is responsible for assisting the Sous Chef, Executive Sous, and Executive Chef with inventory, supervision of staff, food preparation, and ensuring quality and consistency of dishes. The Lead Line Cook supervises staff in the absence of the Sous Chef and manages the different stations.
A successful Lead Line Cook is passionate about food and people, providing a positive influence and atmosphere for all kitchen employees. They are knowledgeable on food safety and quality control, directing the service and expediting food, and setting pace in the kitchen, which are among the highest priorities.
Main Duties
Well-versed in all menu items and able to produce consistent, quality dishes in fast-paced environments.
Assist with inventory and purchasing to support sustainable food cost.
Oversee wastage, cooking temperatures, and quality to reduce costs and educate line staff on product cost and profit impact.
Produce and execute a‑la‑carte dishes, including weekend feast ideas and family meals.
Supervise line staff and delegate tasks, ensuring proper procedures for clocking in/out and breaks.
Support Executive Chef and Sous with end‑of‑shift reports and handover sheets.
Maintain company target goals and consistent Soho House Standards for service (3-8-10).
Act as an influencer under pressure, providing a welcoming environment that boosts staff morale.
Train and educate new and existing team members on “Cook House”.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Required Skills / Qualifications
Minimum 3‑4 years of kitchen experience with proven leadership within previous teams.
Proven ability to manage all stations on the line.
Food handler’s certificate.
Strong communicator, collaborator, and motivator, capable of building professional relationships with all leaders and kitchen team.
Proactive, team‑player who can work well independently as well as on a team.
Flexible schedule, able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to multitask in a demanding, fast‑paced environment.
Creativity to develop recipes from scratch.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn, and hold objects with hands.
Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
Fast‑paced movements required to move between different areas of the club.
Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 40 pounds.
Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb as required.
