Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the kitchen and ensure the highest quality food products.

Directly supervise and train kitchen personnel on all related culinary activities.

Oversee breakfast, lunch and dinner for quality assurance of meal presentation and portion control.

Select recipes, prepare and coordinate all meals, and coordinate prep for the following day’s menu.

Develop new dishes and standardize recipes to ensure consistent quality.

Conduct pre‑meal meetings with food servers to review daily menu details.

Ensure adequate staffing each shift and cover absences.

Estimate food consumption, requisition purchases, and monitor inventory.

Assist in maintaining budget compliance for daily food costs and apply loss prevention procedures.

Hire, train, schedule, discipline, and terminate associates, and provide training to all kitchen staff.

Coordinate and execute special events.

Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with state and local health department code; keep equipment in working order, manage cleaning chemicals, and minimize waste.

Qualifications Education and Experience

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.

Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, And Other Special Requirements

ServSafe Certified.

Obtain/hold any local, state and/or county required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certificates.

Management and Decision Making

Apply existing guidelines and procedures to make varied decisions within a department.

Use sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems.

Knowledge And Skills

Extensive knowledge of culinary skills and an understanding of the organization and work environment.

Effective customer service skills and the ability to lead and supervise a diverse group of people.

Coordinate daily production of menus, recipes and food preparation.

Manage multiple job tasks, including preparing several foods simultaneously.

Excellent cooking skills and an understanding of food preparation principles, ingredients, and culinary terminology.

Modify and develop creative recipes and healthy, satisfying menus for residents.

Apply sanitation principles.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Standing, walking, sitting, and walking with occasional weekend, evening or night work.

Interaction with co‑workers, residents or vendors.

Use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 50 pounds.

Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, chemicals, and latex.

Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Vision requirements for food preparation and safety.

Base pay will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience. The role is eligible for team‑based bonus opportunities. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.
