Overview Project Accountant Job Summary: The Project Accountant will be responsible for all accounting duties related to specific jobs or projects assigned to them. This position will also be involved with the general accounting duties of the company and provide financial reports for each job. Joint venture and subcontracting knowledge are preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare time and material invoices accurately utilizing a variety of billing rate schedules, including complete support documentation, to ensure prompt payment in a timely manner

Prepare lump sum / percent complete invoices, including assisting the Project Management with the preparation of Schedules of Values

Review, verify, and input project cost items and budgets

Verify subcontractor payment requests and report requests approved for payment

Ensure that all costs comply with job budgets, approval, project reporting, and operating procedural requirements

Analyze job to date cost vs. budgets and prepare related reports

Review cost and variances with Project Managers and Controller

Discuss project accounting issues with project staff

Review subcontract and contract agreements and related changes

Interface with subcontractors concerning payment status, lien or insurance deficits and joint check requirements

Can perform financial analysis and multiple reports on projects

Provide assistance on miscellaneous general administrative expense monitoring and input

Qualifications

BS or BBA in Accounting. Master’s in Accounting or actively pursuing CPA license

Must have at least 5 years of commercial construction accounting

Must be proficient in usage of computerized software packages, including (Sage 300) Timberline, or similar job cost accounting systems

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel with advanced skills in VLookup and pivot tables

Thorough knowledge of cost accounting principles

Detail oriented with good math skills

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Must have ability to work in a team-oriented environment

May have to work on Jobsite and Office

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: $75,000 to $85,000 Annually

Bonus / Commission: No
