Employment Services Specialist – Case Manager 1 (Entry Level)
Volunteers of America Colorado is seeking an Employment Services Specialist to facilitate delivery of employment support services for participant households, conducting needs‑based assessments, providing case management, outreach, and program coordination.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and facilitate the delivery of employment-appropriate support services for participants.
Conduct needs-based and program eligibility assessments.
Provide employment and education opportunities to participants.
Engage in community outreach and produce a current list of education and employment opportunities.
Provide case management services to program clients.
Act as liaison with employers, schools, and businesses to secure appropriate placements.
Give participants information and referrals on suitable career paths based on skills, interests, and experiences.
Assist participants with job‑interview preparation, resume and cover‑letter development, and mock interviews.
Develop and implement coaching strategies to help participants overcome employment barriers.
Document all client interactions and required eligibility and demographic information.
Maintain confidentiality and participate effectively across teams.
Perform professional development activities to advance knowledge in field‑relevant best practices and standards.
Support the team by providing training and mentorship to stakeholders regarding best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Travel throughout the program’s service area on a regular basis.
Use a vehicle for service provision throughout the metro Denver area.
Work in diverse environments such as homeless shelters, service facilities, streets, offices, and other locations.
Perform physical duties including bending and lifting (30–50 pounds), stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Full‑time; work hours may vary but are typically scheduled around a 40‑hour work week.
Location
Field Office in Denver; travel throughout the Denver Metro region.
Field Office in Colorado Springs; travel throughout the El Paso County region.
Pay Range $21.00–$23.00 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, or a closely related field, or related experience.
Colorado driver’s license and state‑mandated automobile insurance.
Personal vehicle for work‑related travel (mileage reimbursement available).
Complete agency and program credentialing within 12 weeks of hire and maintain credentialing standards thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Individualized Placement Services (IPS) Certification.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Harm Reduction, Critical Time Intervention, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma‑Informed Care, and Housing First Principles.
Ability to serve individuals from diverse backgrounds respectfully and professionally.
Ability to thrive within a diverse, multicultural team environment.
Initiative and independent work capacity.
Effective verbal and written communication.
Self‑care practices in challenging or traumatic situations.
