Why SLP? The

Stanley Black & Decker Leadership Program (SLP)

is a fast‑track rotational program designed to accelerate the development of future leaders. It is geared toward recent graduates with Information Technology internship experience and a relevant business degree who are passionate about a long‑term career in IT. IT SLPs work through four 6‑month rotations in different U.S. facilities—or, in unique cases, internationally—receiving project assignments that let participants become familiar with how we do business and contribute to its success.

The Job As part of the SLP program, you’ll join our Information Technology team and contribute across a wide range of projects. Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses to align IT solutions with business initiatives.

Defining and analyzing problems with business users to select the most suitable technical, application, or configuration solutions.

Soliciting, developing, documenting, and managing requirements and providing detailed design and business rules through the project life cycle up to and including change control.

Reviewing system test plans and test modules before implementation.

Creating, reviewing, and delivering end‑user documentation (user guides, process flow charts, training materials) and training for accuracy.

Monitoring production performance enhancements and system integrity with end users during upgrades.

Developing detailed implementation and upgrade project plans in conjunction with other account team associates.

Updating documentation in response to approved change requests.

Providing input on processes, procedures, and new approaches.

Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to implement, monitor, and optimize AI‑driven solutions, leveraging advanced analytics and automation tools to enhance business processes and drive innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer/Information Science, or a related field.

Knowledge of basic principles, methods, technologies, and practices of a professional/technical field.

Basic knowledge of system development methodology, project management system architecture, and analytical/problem‑solving skills.

Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to execute with integrity and accountability.

Strong communication skills with all business levels, from shop floor to senior management.

Self‑motivated with a drive for excellence and continuous improvement through analytical problem‑solving.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with executives.

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Access.

Details

Must be willing to rotate work assignments, projects, and teams every 6–12 months throughout the program; relocation for at least one rotation may be required.

This hybrid role will begin in either New Britain, CT or Towson, MD.
