Job Purpose Performs duties particular to and normally required in the trade of groundskeeping, following recognized procedures and techniques for such work.

Essential Functions

Groundskeeping – mowing, watering, weeding, seeding, fertilizing, and refuse collection in assigned areas; operate power mowers, lawn equipment, and heavy machinery.

Maintain automatic sprinkler systems, asphalt patching, paving, and concrete work.

Apply chemicals and fertilizers on lawns, trees, and shrubs; troubleshoot and repair landscape equipment.

Perform general labor and maintenance duties to support the Maintenance Division during the off‑season.

Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, roadways, plazas, and steps.

Follow all safety and environmental regulations during operations.

Additional duties as assigned by the department.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum 3 years of related experience in groundskeeping or related trades, or equivalent experience per education–experience ratio.

Valid driver’s license with good driving history.

WSDA Pesticide License, or willingness to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Ability to solve problems individually or in a team setting.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.

Knowledge of safe use and disposal of fertilizers and herbicides.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with commercial landscape equipment (industrial mowers, weed‑wrackers, blowers, edgers, pruners, pole saws).

Knowledge of common landscape pests, diseases, and blights.

Knowledge of turf, shrub, tree, and flower varietals.

Experience with snow removal machinery.

Experience with heavy machinery (backhoe, tractors, skid steer, loaders, lifts).

Physical & On‑Campus Requirements

In‑office presence: 5 days/week.

Standing/sitting: >75% of time.

Walking: >75% of time.

Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs daily.

Attention to detail: >75% of time.

Problem‑solving: >75% of time.

Salary Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week: $41,600 – $42,600 (pay range $41,600 – $49,080). Minimum Annualized salary: $41,600; Midpoint: $45,300; Maximum: $49,080.
