Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting Food Runners to join the hotel’s opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. The property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by José Andrés, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who’s who of Miami. Position Summary Position Summary
Andaz Miami Beach is looking for Food Runners who are excited, qualified, hard-working, individuals with a passion for hospitality and a commitment to superior guest service. Experience with Micros, high volume, and extensive Food Running are all beneficial but not required. The Food Runner is responsible for assisting waitstaff and making sure customers get a superior dining experience. Their primary duties include delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers’ tables, acting as the point of contact between staff at the front of the house (FOH) and back of the house (BOH), and setting up tables.
Position Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Uphold company policies and procedures, including adhering to work schedules, dress code, and attendance guidelines.
Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures
To ensure that all perishable items used behind the bar are labeled/dated and responsible for rotating and throwing away to maintain quality control
Provides prompt, professional, friendly, and personalized service to our guests
Performs opening side work and set up station
Attends and participates in any training sessions, department meetings
Provides professional and exceptional food and beverage service
Proper serving of wine and alcohol (with awareness)
Setting up the front line with the small wares, plate ware, and equipment needed to effectively serve all food items
Keeping the station restocked, cleaning small, and large trays and tray stands, reading order tickets, and placing them onto the ticket minder
Tracking cooking times on all food orders and checking them for plate presentation, appearance, and the proper degree of doneness
Garnishing finished entrees according to the restaurant’s procedures and specifications and assisting servers as needed, to improve the dining experience of guests
Performing all side work in the front and back of the restaurant as scheduled or assigned by the management
Delivering orders to guests’ tables while the food is still hot and notifying waitstaff when orders are ready
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the hospitality industry.
Multitasking skills to ensure guests get their orders quickly
Organizational skills to easily locate bar patrons and tables to fulfill orders
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure customers’ requests are met
Ability to remain on their feet for several hours
Interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
