The Connexa Search Group is recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join a privately held, well-established equipment manufacturer headquartered just outside Camden, NC.
This role is responsible for designing, programming, and integrating PLC-based control systems for advanced industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with automation controls and enjoy working cross-functionally across engineering, manufacturing, and service teams. The company is known for its custom-engineered equipment and tight-knit team environment. This position is near a highly desirable residential area—and within commuting distance of the greater
Norfolk/Chesapeake metro area . Key Responsibilities: Design and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA-based control systems
Oversee full project cycle—from design to commissioning—of custom equipment
Develop and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams
Troubleshoot and resolve field and production control issues
Collaborate with other engineers to ensure system integration and functionality
Support equipment testing, field startup, and documentation
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred
3+ years of industrial controls design and programming experience
Proficiency with PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred)
Familiarity with HMI interfaces, VFDs, motion systems, and sensors
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar tools is a plus
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
