Summary of Job

The City of Beloit has an exciting professional opportunity in the Finance and Administrative Services Department. The City of Beloit seeks experienced and skilled candidates to serve as the City Clerk-Treasurer.

The City Clerk-Treasurer performs responsible and specialized administrative work involved in the custody and filing of official city records, application and issuance of licenses and permits, administration of elections and voter registration. Additionally oversees utility billing/general billing collections, preparing annual tax bills, processing and colleting special assessments. City Clerk-Treasurer's Office is staff liaison to City Council, Alcohol Beverage License Control Committee, Board of Review and other Boards, Committees, or Commissions, as assigned.

Qualified candidates will be expected to have creative, problem-solving approach and well-developed interpersonal communication skills and an ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with staff, elected and appointed officials, government agencies, service and community organizations, private business and the general public.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. A valid driver's license or otherwise meet the transportation needs of the position. 2. Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration or a related field. 3. Five (5) years of responsible professional experience in a professional work environment in a complex organization, preferably in a government setting. 4. Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a municipal clerk's office or similar setting, or experience in election administration or alcohol license administration, is highly desired. 5. Certified Wisconsin Municipal Clerk (WCMC), or ability to become certified within three years of hire. 6. Certified Wisconsin Municipal Treasurer (CMTW), or ability to become certified within three years of hire. 7. Wisconsin Notary Public or ability to obtain status within six months of hire. 8. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.
