The Eligibility Division is tasked with the daily preparing and processing of a substantial volume of OIDD eligibility notification determinations across various categories. This position supports that function by:
Preparing and distributing eligibility notification letters related to eligibility determinations including eligible, not eligible, incomplete, closures, and waiting list. Running reports. Maintaining accurate records. Ensuring all correspondence is accurately uploaded and documented in the electronic health record system within established time frames. Ensuring timeliness and compliance by adhering to established policies, directives, and deadlines for notification letters to ensure applicants and families receive accurate and timely communication. Engaging in ongoing professional development by participating in training, webinars, and other learning opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in performing job responsibilities. Participating as a team member and provide back-up assistance to other staff. Completing other duties as assigned. BHDD-OIDD is a part of the state's behavioral health and developmental disabilities agency, providing services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health conditions and substance use disorders through a wholistic, streamlined and coordinated approach. OIDD assists in the planning, developing, coordinating, and funding services for South Carolinians with the severe, lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability and related disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury and similar disability.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relevant to the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Knowledge of word processing centers and/or current office management practices. Knowledge of grammatical rules, clerical formats and/or journalistic principles. Knowledge of behavioral characteristics of the developmentally disabled. Knowledge of basic training principles and techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of legal terminology and court procedures. Ability to schedule workloads and establish routing systems. Ability to deal effectively with the public in handling inquiries and communicating information.
