General Services Division . About the Position
This is advanced senior and lead work in the daily performance of general mail, courier and mailroom activities, which includes the sorting and posting of mail, the operation and maintenance of mail processing equipment, and picking up and delivering mail on a scheduled and predetermined basis. Incumbent assist the Mail Services Supervisor in the general administration of the section and provide guidance and assistance to subordinate level positions. Incumbent may assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in their absence. Work performance is evaluated by the supervisor based upon the achievement of a timely courier and mail pick up and delivery system.
About the Agency The Office of Central Services is a multifaceted agency of the Prince George's County Government providing government-wide, mission critical support services in the areas of facilities operations and management, building design & construction, real estate services, fleet management, and general services. We make government operations operate better for the government. Examples of Work Delivers and picks up mail on a daily basis to and from the United States Post Office. Assists in sorting postal and inter-office mail by department/agency. Operates and maintains County vehicles and mail processing equipment (e.g., postage scale, postage machine/meter, mailing machine) in accordance with established policies and procedures. Makes courier runs throughout County government locations in order to deliver, sort and pick up mail. Assists in maintaining appropriate log of metered postage by department/agency. Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in their absence. Operates computerized equipment in conjunction with assigned duties and responsibilities. Willingly and cooperatively performs tasks and duties which may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but which are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class for work. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent One (1) year of mail services experience
An equivalent combination of experience and training may also be accepted Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of US Postal Service rate schedules Experience operating computerized direct addressing and labeling equipment Experience operating a six-pocket inserter Experience operating a high-speed tabber Knowledge of applicable Federal regulations for handling mail to lead unit operations Ability to troubleshoot and repair machines Strong customer service skills

beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
