Job Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will have strong communications with internal and external teams to provide manufacturing expertise, develop MBOMs, and determine recommendations for required tooling. This individual will develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing methods, operation sequences, and processes required for production.
Responsibilities
- Define and control production processes, including sequence of operations, workflow, and detailed methodology of complex assemblies and installations.
- Provide recommendations for tooling and equipment required to manufacture products.
- Develop MBOMs and detailed work instructions; maintain general understanding of MRP planning as related to MBOM structure and development.
- Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results as they apply to manufacturing.
- Understand design release activities and engineering changes and their effect on the MBOM.
- Perform producibility studies from engineering drawings; interface with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs that improve manufacturability.
- Liaise between engineering and manufacturing facility.
- Generate make-or-buy recommendations; support evaluation of suppliers and assist in resolving problems.
- Document procedures, process qualifications, etc.
- Collaborate across the organization and with production, quality, and senior leaders on major projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- General understanding of Teamcenter and MRP planning.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information and maintain confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to work as a contributing member of multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Experience with defense contracts and DCMA audits preferred.
- Solid knowledge of technical standards, manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently in a self‑motivated environment.
- Ability to review designs in a CAD system, including interrogating models and drawings.
- Computer skills with Windows‑based PC systems and applicable software (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with U.S. Defense contracts and requirements.
- Considerable knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and previous plant experience.
Experience
- 7 years minimum of manufacturing‑related experience.
- Familiarity with U.S. Defense contracts and requirements preferred.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
Background Prerequisites
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, and controlled substance testing.
Working Conditions And Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.
