Base Pay Range $300,000.00/yr - $350,000.00/yr

Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval – award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications Open & Continuous Announcement – this will remain open until November 28, 2025 or until positions are filled. Eligible applications will be reviewed at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as‑needed basis until positions are filled.

Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship; non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved VA school.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Residency training approved by VA in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Residencies may be ACGME, AOA, or other non‑U.S. residencies followed by at least five years of verified U.S. practice deemed appropriate by the Medical Staff Executive Committee.

Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs). PRPs must have a full, unrestricted license, may only practice on an intermittent or fee‑basis, and are not independent practitioners.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Diagnostic Radiology (see

qualification standards ).

Physical Requirements: light lifting (≤15 lb), light carrying (≤15 lb), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, standing (2 h), repeated bending (1 h), both legs required, rapid mental‑muscular coordination, near vision 13–16 D, hearing (aid may be permitted), environmental factors such as electrical energy, machinery, proximity to others, and protracted hours.

Duties

Provide a spectrum of diagnostic radiology services including image interpretation, image‑guided procedures, and patient care.

Oversee technical quality of imaging, provide feedback to technologists, and ensure safe use of contrast and radiation.

Manage medication administration relevant to imaging services.

Serve as a resource for radiation safety, MRI safety, and infection prevention practices.

Participate in quality assurance activities such as peer review, protocol review, and performance improvement.

Interpret imaging studies, generate reports with findings, differential diagnoses, and recommendations, and communicate results timely to clinical teams.

Consult with other providers on imaging selection and study interpretation.

Participate in tumor boards, other clinical conferences, and patient‑care coordination.

Enter orders, manage patient histories, provide education, obtain informed consent, and document in the electronic health record.

Support academic programs by teaching technologists, radiologic assistants, medical students, physician‑assistant students, and residents.

Work full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Support VA mission through collaboration with the Imaging Service Chief and other medical staff.
