Nira Energy
Nira's mission is to help convert the US power grid to be 100% fossil‑free.
We are profitable!
Nira is a software platform that helps renewable energy developers find the cheapest points on the grid to connect.
We focus on estimating the cost to interconnect with the electrical grid (aka the Interconnection Process). Depending on where developers connect, they may be on the hook to pay millions of dollars to upgrade power lines, substations etc.
The Company Nira is a software company with a mission of accelerating the integration of large‑scale renewable energy projects. Developers of solar, wind, and energy storage projects use Nira’s software to find the best locations to site their projects and help manage them through the queue. Nira’s software products simplify complex and niche electrical engineering concepts that would otherwise lead most renewable energy projects to be cancelled after significant investment.
Job Description Nira is hiring Transmission Planning Engineers to join the product team comprised of half planning engineers and half software engineers. In this role, you’ll work with other planning engineers and software engineers to build products that help renewable developers put together successful project portfolios.
Focus on deepening and expanding your transmission planning and generator interconnection studies subject‑matter expertise.
Work with software engineers and product managers to codify your domain knowledge into Nira’s software products’ backend.
Support the full product life cycle including product ideation, research and development, coding, sales support, customer support, and product maintenance.
Who We’re Looking For
You have experience with generation interconnection related studies. You have 2+ years of hands‑on experience with tools like TARA, PSS/E, Power World, Python, etc.; and you already have a sense of what data renewable developers need to build a portfolio of successful projects.
You’re motivated by having ownership in your work. You take initiative on projects and have a strong preference to be a trailblazer. When the "trail" is given to you, you are motivated to challenge it and ensure it's the best trail every step of the way.
You’re ready to roll up your sleeves for the team, and no task is beneath you. Sometimes the work isn’t always sexy, but you’re down to do it anyway if it means advancing the mission and providing value to our customers.
You want to level up your software engineering skills. You’ll work directly with an extremely talented group of software engineers to create products.
You’re low ego. You may have strong opinions, but you hold them loosely. You challenge your instincts, are data driven, and aren’t scared to be wrong. You seek to find the best solutions for our customers even if it runs counter to your initial thinking.
Why Nira? Nira is a mission‑oriented company that places a strong emphasis on a positive work culture. They have built a world‑class team of software engineers and transmission planning engineers, and you’ll be working among a team of all stars. The company is growing exponentially, and the opportunity for professional growth is huge. The organization is flat, the leadership is transparent, and you get full exposure to seeing what it takes to go from 0 to 1 with product development and business in general. This is also an opportunity to get equity in an early‑stage startup with rare momentum.
Compensation 190‑210k base, and equity.
