Vetco Total Care Full Service Veterinary Hospital – Veterinarian All hospital partners are responsible for performing duties that create an environment where the patient’s needs always come first, every team member understands the power to create an exceptional customer and patient experience, contentious issues are resolved promptly, and exceptional teamwork benefits the entire organization.
Essential Job Functions
Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and delivering preventive care based on patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment.
Use a problem‑based approach: develop a complete problem list, differential diagnoses, diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments based on test results.
Document all patient observations, findings, diagnostics, treatments, medications, and client interactions in the medical record concisely and with detail.
Perform routine and complex surgical procedures, including spays/neuters, abdominal explorations, and mass removals.
Perform routine and complex dental procedures, including full examinations, dental radiograph evaluations, extractions, and oral surgeries.
Develop treatment plans for day‑hospitalized patients, transition patients to overnight care as needed, and communicate effectively with referral hospitals.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in rounds as incoming or exiting doctor at shift start and end.
Educate staff to improve the level of care and communication provided to patients and clients.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education / Experience
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an AVMA‑accredited veterinary school.
Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state of the hospital or the ability to obtain it by start date.
Current DEA license and Controlled Substance license (if applicable).
USDA Category I accreditation (or completion within two months of hire).
Comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries (spays, neuters, mass removals, dentals).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Compassionate, professional, and able to handle emotional situations.
Team player with willingness to learn new techniques and offer creative ideas.
Proficiency in telephone and computer use.
Work Environment Work is conducted in a full‑service veterinary hospital. The role requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 lbs), and standing for long periods. Direct interaction with clients and pets is a major component of the position.
