as a Substance Use Counselor at the Providence Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in Providence, RI.

About the Role We provide a continuum of care that includes Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), Office-Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), mobile treatment units, and holistic addiction care. You will be part of an outpatient opioid treatment program (OTP) that serves communities across Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM (Early morning schedule to encourage work-life balance)

Key Responsibilities

Lead individual and group counseling sessions with compassion and professionalism.

Design, manage, and document individualized treatment plans.

Facilitate group or family therapy sessions as required.

Maintain thorough, clear, and timely documentation of patient care and progress.

Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments.

Determine need for referrals to additional programs or external resources.

Coordinate aftercare plans to support long-term recovery.

Provide immediate crisis intervention services when needed.

Manage patient cases to ensure personalized, high-quality care.

Serve as a liaison between patients and referral sources.

Compensation Hourly rate: $24.00 - $31.00 (Rhode Island). Eligible for student loan forgiveness through HRSA (eligibility varies by clinic site).

Location Providence, Rhode Island.

Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related health services field (accredited university).

Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional).

Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).

Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions focused on substance use recovery.

Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, MI, and relapse prevention.

Experience with clinical documentation (state and federal guidelines).

Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA).

Collaboration experience in multidisciplinary teams with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

LCDP, LICSW, or CADC/CAADC.
