Knoxville, TN Job Summary and Description

Technical resource to the grid operations, planning, and bulk system variable generation integration and system studies groups with excellent research, analytical, and programming skills, as well as communication and interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include developing analytical models and applying advanced techniques to solve complex issues in power systems operations and planning. The role involves performing simulations using tools such as PSS&E and PSLF to validate analytical findings and assess control performance. Applicant would have good software development skills and, ideally, experience with good software development practices such as version control, naming conventions, adhering to style-guides, and code review. Key Responsibilities

Conduct modeling and simulation-based power system studies. Support the development and maintenance/upgrade of software tools for power system analysis, with both traditional analytical methods and AI-based approaches. Conduct technical research and analyze information in support of the project team. Conducts some independent research, with support from technical leads. Support application and case studies Additional Requirements

Assists technical research leads in assessing customer needs, formulating technical approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications/papers, and making presentations with minimal supervision. Able to present at external conferences and meetings on technical work. Has an understanding of other programs at EPRI and how specific programs work fits into the EPRI mission. Education and Skills

Bachelor\'s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required with an MS or PhD Degree in Engineering or Sciences preferred Strong programming skills (preferably C/C++ and Python) Experience of using Power System Tools PSSE, PSLF, PowerWorld or other similar software for carrying out the power system studies Good verbal and written communication skills Additional Preferred Skills

Strong understanding of power system control, dynamics, and optimization Some Statistical background Understanding of Transmission Planning and Operations Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $92,000 USD to $100,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant\'s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant\'s geographic location. This role is eligible to participate in EPRI\'s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan. This role is eligible to participate in EPRI\'s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
