Job Description Americas Gold & Silver is seeking a proactive and results-oriented
Chief Engineer
to lead the engineering team at our Galena Complex in Wallace, Idaho. This is a senior leadership position responsible for all facets of mine engineering, including planning, design, ventilation, ground control, and infrastructure support. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the strategic planning and operational execution of the mine, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage the site engineering team to deliver safe and effective engineering solutions.
Oversee short-range and long-range mine planning, including drill/blast designs, stope layouts, and development scheduling.
Ensure proper ground control practices and ventilation system design and monitoring.
Collaborate closely with geology, operations, and maintenance teams to optimize production and resource recovery.
Oversee infrastructure planning and projects including dewatering, backfill, and power systems.
Maintain regulatory compliance for engineering functions and support permitting efforts as required.
Develop, track, and manage engineering budgets and project timelines.
Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
Uphold and promote safety policies, engineering standards, and operational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
Required : Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline.
Required : Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in underground mine engineering, with progressive responsibility.
Demonstrated leadership and team development experience in a mining environment.
Proficiency with mine planning and design software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, or equivalent).
Strong understanding of ground control, ventilation, and underground mine infrastructure systems.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
