Chief Mining Engineer / Technical Services Manager

Overview This role will lead the technical services function for an underground mining operation currently in a significant phase of development and optimization. The Chief Mining Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support to mine operations and overseeing engineers, surveyors, and technicians across planning, ventilation, ground control, and production support.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a safe, productive, and collaborative mine technical team.
Support Health & Safety and Environmental systems, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Coach and mentor engineers and technical staff to meet site and company objectives.
Contribute to the development of an engaged, performance-driven culture.
Oversee short and long-range mine planning and execution.
Drive workforce planning, organizational development, and technical excellence.
Foster collaboration and innovation across departments to maximize resource value.
Lead weekly technical and planning meetings, ensuring alignment with operations.
Partner closely with geology, maintenance, and operations to optimize mine performance.
Oversee ventilation, rock mechanics, mine planning, survey, and paste backfill operations.
Manage design and maintenance of surface and underground infrastructure.
Ensure efficient use of resources, continuous improvement, and proactive leadership.
Qualifications
Degree in Mine Engineering or related technical discipline.
Minimum ten years of relevant mining experience, including at least six in technical or operational leadership.
Proven background in underground mine production and project execution.
Expertise in longhole open stoping and modern underground methods.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and compliance.
Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Leapfrog, and Xeras.
Experienced in operating and capital planning.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
