Overview Position: Supervises and participates in the repair, renovation, and maintenance of public buildings and facilities. Ensures building infrastructure is operated and maintained in a reliable, efficient and cost-effective manner to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment.

Salary information appears to be based on FY26, effective 10-1-25.

Responsibilities

Plans, coordinates and supervises the repair and maintenance programs of public facilities, including but not limited to the City’s buildings, pavilions, picnic shelters, gazebos, press boxes and bus shelters.

Develops, assigns and monitors daily, weekly, monthly and annual work plans for the Building Services Division.

Identifies labor resource needs and allocates as required to repair, maintain and/or enhance park and building facilities, including but not limited to building generators, HVAC systems, roofs, fire suppression systems, backflow devices, lift stations, interior/exterior lighting systems, plumbing fixtures, interior/exterior painting, flooring, office equipment, appliances, bus shelters and park structures.

Evaluates, implements training, recognition programs, disciplinary procedures, addresses employee complaints, and resolves problems.

Ensures compliance with safe working practices and conducts on-site safety inspections.

Reviews and monitors time management system submittals, contractor invoices, highlights of accomplishments for City Council reports, and analyzes daily worksheets submitted by staff for work planning efficiency.

Assists in monitoring the Division operating and Capital Improvement budget; notifies Director of expenditure trends, needs, concerns or problem areas.

Assists in the selection, training, development and evaluation of Division personnel; supports employees to correct deficiencies; recommends promotions, disciplinary actions and terminations.

Determines schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on priority, equipment, and staff capabilities.

Coordinates with the Construction Manager, Project Coordinator, PW Specialist and Director to plan and schedule repairs, renovations and minor reconstruction projects and Capital Improvement Projects.

Provides recommendations for maintenance program planning, development and implementation, including community events and facility improvements.

Procures Division equipment, supplies and contractual services; prepares specifications, requisitions, and evaluates suppliers and prices; monitors material usage to maintain inventory.

Maintains expenditures within budget, performs cost-benefit analysis, identifies cost-saving measures and ensures contractor compliance with contract terms.

Performs regular safety inspections of staff activities, enforces safety procedures, ensures use of personal protective equipment, and conducts safety and integrity inspections of public facilities.

Ensures ongoing staff development through personal and professional training opportunities.

Assists in the preparation of bids/proposals, procurement card reports and inventory logs as required.

Reports illicit discharge, nuisance animals, hazardous materials and other program violations to appropriate City Department and/or agency to protect public safety.

Responsible for the location of underground utilities within public grounds.

May be required to work after-hours, during community events and during activation of the City’s Emergency Operations Center during a natural disaster.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED; Associates or Technical Degree in a related field preferred.

Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in building maintenance, other public works activities, or construction, and two (2) years supervisory experience, or any combination of education/training and experience to meet minimum requirements.

Obtain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System Level 100 and 200 Certification and IS 700 and IS 800 within one (1) year of employment.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
