Overview
King County Fleet Services Division is looking for a Parts Specialist (Inventory Purchasing Specialist II). In this position, you will oversee the procurement and receipt of parts and supplies for a store's facility. Key responsibilities include managing inventory through an automated system, ensuring accurate tracking and organization of stock. The inventory includes a diverse range of items such as light and heavy-duty automotive and equipment parts, building and road construction materials, traffic control products, and safety supplies. Job Duties
Manage inventory warehousing disbursements; document and set stocking levels; process inventory purchases; perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits. Perform warehouse shipping and receiving; demonstrate responsibility for materials handling; maintain adequate stock to meet user needs. Obtain price quotes, research vendor sources, and select vendors for standard and specialized parts, materials, supplies, tools, and services. Conduct cost analysis to support cost savings for King County. Monitor blanket purchase order expenditures. Assist with and review bid specifications. Work with vendors to resolve problems such as billing discrepancies; quantity or product errors, and contract interpretation. Track warranties and supporting documents. Assist with picking up repair parts. Identify and recommend strategies for surplus, sale and salvage of obsolete inventory items; monitor the use, storage and handling of hazardous materials. Plan production and allocate resources of in-house manufacturing process. Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Have experience working in an automotive store and/or heavy-duty equipment facility using an automated inventory control system. Have knowledge and understanding of automotive parts, fleet maintenance repair processes, heavy duty and industrial parts. Have knowledge of basic warehousing equipment and supplies, purchasing procedures and practices, inventory control and management practices. Can operate forklifts safely. Are able to interpret and evaluate manuals and catalogs. Are customer focused and understand how to deliver excellent service. Are comfortable using Microsoft Office suite including Access, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and the internet in their daily work. Having an ASE Parts Certification is a plus. WORK SCHEDULE:
The base work schedule for this position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with work shifts ranging from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and therefore is overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday. Shift hours may fluctuate with the seasons and customer requirements. During serious weather conditions or other emergencies, shifts may change to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Employees are expected to report to work during these emergencies. You may be scheduled to work at both Fleet Shops- Renton location (155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056) and Orcas location (707 S Orcas Street, Seattle, WA 98108) depending on operational needs. UNION MEMBERSHIP:
This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 - Joint Units Agreement. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
