Manager, Medical Staff Office
– Danbury, CT
Full-time, 40 hours per week (Mon‑Fri, 8:30 am–5:00 pm)
Summary The Medical Staff Office is the tactical department that supports medical staff organization activities. The Manager, Medical Staff Services (MMSS) provides leadership, management and operational oversight of Medical Staff Organization (MSO) support services for Danbury Hospital. The MMSS works collaboratively with the President of the MSO, the Medical Executive Committee (MEC), and additional medical Staff Leaders to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the programs and activities of the MSO to ensure that strategies are supported and attained, goals are realized, and regulatory and accreditation requirements of the organized medical staff are met.
Responsibilities
Administration/Management Criteria A: Takes initiative in planning and formulating policies, procedures, programs, strategies, and plans for approval of the MEC to further the objective and requirements of the Medical Staff Organization.
Administration/Management Criteria B: Coordinates and maintains programs.
Administration/Management Criteria C: Carries out specific tasks assigned by the MEC, President of the Medical Staff, or the Medical Staff leadership.
Environmental Surveillance Criteria A and B: Identifies, assesses, and informs the MEC of internal and external issues that affect the programs and activities of the MSO, including regulatory and accreditation issues, ensuring timely communication of important factors that influence positive outcomes or create barriers.
Communication Criteria: Develops and implements strategies for regular, effective communication with MSO members regarding Danbury Hospital plans, goals, and activities.
Practitioner Database Criteria A and B: Oversees development of practitioner information systems, coordinates information flow with other departments and medical and allied health staff, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and integrity in managing data.
Meeting Coordination/Management Criteria A and B: Coordinates all aspects of MEC committee activities (agenda development, documentation, follow-up) and provides necessary resources and support to committee chairs.
Practitioner Competency Criteria A, B, and C: Assists with design, development, implementation, support and oversight of MSO activities related to regulatory and accreditation requirements; works with the MEC, Credentials Committee, Department Chairs on privileging and credentialing; coordinates resources for investigations, disciplinary actions, and appeals to ensure compliance.
Collaboration Criteria A: Collaborates effectively with other members of the Quality and Organizational Performance team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5 to 7 years of management experience in a healthcare environment.
Minimum Experience Five years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated effective and responsive interpersonal skills.
Capable of gaining immediate credibility with individuals through experience, presentation, and communication skills.

Comprehensive expertise and knowledge of medical staff organization management, including regulatory and accreditation requirements, credentialing, privileging, peer review, etc. If a candidate does not have this expertise, the candidate will be mentored by an outside resource.
Working Conditions
Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination & finger dexterity.
Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk.
Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. of force.
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.

Salary Range $32.23 – $59.86 per hour, commensurate with experience.
