HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO The School of Public Health – Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is seeking a full-time Grants & Contracts Officer III (pre-award) supports faculty and researchers in sponsored research activities, including in identifying funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant regulations. This role coordinates all proposal activity up to the point of issuance of a new award. The GCO III facilitates access to funding agency platforms, supports faculty in setting up proposals in sponsor portals, and oversees workflow communication within the department. Additionally, the GCO III serves as SPH’s primary pre-award contact for multi-institutional, complex grant proposals.
Proposal Development and Submission
Develop and prepare sponsored research proposals for faculty, including providing guidance on the required format and requirements of various funding opportunity announcements.
Develop proposal budgets that meet both sponsor and institutional (GSU) requirements.
Manage the flow of all proposal-related documents, utilizing all appropriate internal and external systems for completion and tracking.
Serve as a liaison between faculty members and the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (OSPA) or other relevant submitters. This includes managing just-in-time sponsor requests, and coordinating new/amended award setups.
Act as an ORSP (Office of Research and Sponsored Programs) representative on teams involved in the preparation of complex, multi-institutional grant proposals.
Faculty and Administrative Liaison
Serve as the first point of contact for all faculty seeking to submit grant proposals.
Act as a liaison between faculty, department chairs, Associate Deans, the central Office of Sponsored Programs Administration, and any other critical individuals or offices crucial to the success of sponsored projects administration.
Maintain tracking systems for monitoring progress toward proposal completion and submission.
System Competency and Professional Development.
Develop and maintain competency with all systems used to prepare and conduct funding searches and grant proposals. This includes, but is not limited to, the GSU research portal, Cayuse, Research.gov, NIH eRA Commons, and Grants.gov.
Attend job-related trainings and workshops for professional development related to research administration.
Other Duties as Assigned
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of grants and contracts, administrative and budget activities, processes, and procedures.
Knowledge of basic computer operations and software, such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentations.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Effective oral and verbal communication with external and internal customers.
Ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, and exhibit excellent customer service.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
