Responsibilities
Direct supervision of employees of rank CSS‑1 and below who are responsible for the safety and security of a correctional facility. Assign and instruct personnel to ensure the proper performance of all assignments and compliance with established safety and security standards.
Education
Completion of 15 semester (23 term) credits in any field.
Experience
Three years equivalent to a Corrections Officer E9, Corrections Medical Aide E9, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer E9.
Two years equivalent to a Resident Unit Officer E10, Corrections Transportation Officer E10, Corrections Medical Unit Officer E10, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer E10.
One year equivalent to a Corrections Shift Supervisor 11 or Assistant Resident Unit Supervisor 11.
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications Test‑designated with pre‑appointment and random‑selection drug and alcohol testing.
Applicants convicted of a felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of the sentence, including parole or probation. Applicants convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible until one year after satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed.
Applicants with convictions for the Controlled Substance Act or criminal sexual conduct in any jurisdiction, including the military, are ineligible for consideration.
