The typical duties of a police officer include responding to calls, maintaining order in an assigned patrol area, enforcing state and local criminal and traffic laws, making reports, courtroom presentation of cases, and providing effective service to the citizens of Prince George's County. Shift work is required. Qualifications
Currently certified as a Police Officer in the State of Maryland with a minimum of 12 months patrol experience. Experience must include enforcing state and local criminal and traffic laws, making physical arrests, investigating traffic accidents, operating an emergency vehicle, and responding to calls for service involving conflict management/mediation. U.S. Citizen High School graduate; 60+ college credit hours preferred 21 years old at time of graduation from the Police Academy (20 years and 6 months old at time of application) Possess a valid driver's license and at least 6 months of driving experience Pass all qualification factors listed in the Additional Information Additional Information
Applicants must complete all of the following steps: Submit an online application; Preliminary Application and Applicant History Review; Preliminary Documents and Records Check. If vacancies exist, applicants may be contacted to continue into the Background Investigation process, which includes Personal History Statement (PHS), Background Investigation & PHS Orientation, Initial Interview, Background Investigation, Oral Board, Polygraph Examination, Psychological Screening, Medical Examination & Drug Screening Test, Hiring Consideration, Final Offer of Employment, and Graduation from the PGPD EPO Academy.
