Job Summary We are seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) to support clients in our outpatient men’s program. The LADC will deliver treatment services in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and 245G, ensuring each client receives individualized care and comprehensive documentation.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Treatment Director and Program Manager, deliver services that meet licensure requirements and individual client needs.
Establish an initial service plan that addresses the client’s immediate health, safety, and preliminary service needs.
Complete a comprehensive assessment and assessment summary of the client’s substance use problems using the ASAM Six Dimensions prior to service initiation.
Generate an Individual Treatment Plan that is subject to amendment throughout care, including treatment goals and interventions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client treatment notes, referencing the Individual Treatment Plan.
Provide individual and group counseling, education strategies to prevent inappropriate substance use, and services addressing co‑occurring mental illness.
Facilitate and lead psycho‑educational and therapeutic process groups focused on substance use disorder and mental health issues.
Conduct an average of 28 hours of direct client services per week, combining group and individual sessions.
Participate in the weekly treatment team meetings to review and update client progress notes.
Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referral, probation, and social service agencies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Independent worker and self‑starter.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Screening and working with clients experiencing mental health problems.
Knowledge of 245G implications.
In‑depth knowledge of industry best practices.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations.
Proficiency in facilitating individual and group counseling, including crisis intervention.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum age of 18.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).
At least 2 years of experience working with alcohol and/or drug‑addicted individuals.
At least 3 years of experience providing outpatient and/or intensive outpatient services.
Completion or acquisition of 12 hours of training in co‑occurring mental health problems within 6 months of hire.
5 years of compliance with MN statutes 604.20 and 604.205.
Successful completion of a Minnesota Department of Human Services background study.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience with Procentive.
Additional licenses such as LPC, LPCC, LICSW, LP.
Continued Education and Training
Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain active LADC licensure.
Attend in‑house training and staff meetings.
