Per-diem MRI Technologist for MGH Assembly Row (outpatient). Starting/new grad rate: $42.86. The department operates with a two-technologist model; the team environment is collaborative. The department currently closes on July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Mass General Imaging in Chelsea offers the same support, resources, and expertise as MGH in a state-of-the-art outpatient imaging suite. Job Summary Responsibilities

Under general supervision, safely perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies using an MRI system. Prepare patients, position them, set imaging parameters, acquire images, perform computer processing, and display images. Select appropriate imaging protocols for patient studies and perform quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrate the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department and consult appropriate content experts as needed (e.g., radiologist, nurse, child life specialist). Rotating to MRI scanners across the assigned department as needed. Per Joint Commission guidelines, confirm patient name, date of birth, medical record number, and MRI exam ordered with each patient. Prepare patients, position for exams, set imaging parameters per protocol, perform computer processing, and display images for clinical and research patients; competent in routine outpatient exams with and without contrast. Optimize scan parameters due to patient condition to maintain diagnostic quality. Manage MRI safety components for all exams and participate in clinical care coordination. Inserts IV catheters as needed and prepares for and performs intravenous injections of MR contrast agents (including use of MR-compatible power injector); communicate contraindications and monitor/respond to adverse reactions; record contrast injections in EMR. Perform point of care testing (POCT) where applicable. Instruct patients and visitors on MRI safety procedures; ensure adherence to safety policies; act as final check point prior to scanning for patient safety and protocol clarification; identify hazardous system malfunctions and secure area during emergencies. Perform scheduled quality control procedures on MRI scanner and related equipment; record QA results; report equipment-related problems to supervisor as necessary. Assist other department staff in duties such as scheduling, transporting patients, inventory, and filing as needed. Qualifications
