Saiia Construction Company LLC, a MasTec company, is currently hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator. CDL preferred but not required.

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, graders, dump trucks, front‑end loaders, compactors, scrapers, and water trucks to move material to and from designated areas. The position requires participation in required training and adherence to all established safety rules, procedures, policies, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavator to dig holes and trenches, remove and transport earth, gravel, and other materials. Engage GPS grade technology as needed.

  • Operate bulldozer or grader to gouge out, level, and distribute soil, sand, and other materials. Use GPS grade technology as required.

  • Operate rock/articulated/dump/roll‑off truck to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, soil, rock, gravel, coal, ore, and industrial byproducts.

  • Operate scraper/tractor to move, haul, and grade earth. Control loading gate, adjust depth of cut, and manage hydraulic equipment.

  • Operate water truck to transport potable water, fill crews, and spray dust control attachments.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, MSHA and related state and federal regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to use email, smart phone, tablet, or computer to manage company information and documents.

  • Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence.

  • Must maintain acceptable attendance standards as per employee handbook.

  • Approach and complete work in a meticulous, thorough, and timely manner.

  • Use Hands for Manipulations: Continuously
  • Vision Abilities: Close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing Abilities: Must hear equipment signals, horns, alarms, radio, and phone communications.
