Staff Engineer – Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) at GEICO. GEICO is seeking Finance Data specialists to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with both Finance and Technology teams to redesign how they use their technologies in managing GEICO's business. This individual must have strong functional and technical Finance Systems background to partner with the Business ensuring effective discussions to drive the capture, transformation, and utilization of Finance data to meet Business goals. Responsibilities
Leverage your strong Functional and Technical systems expertise to drive towards the right solution to support the department and GEICO’s current and future needs Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle Support design sessions with peers to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet Business expectations Collaborate with Finance Leaders within FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, and Finance QA & Systems team along with the Data Engineering and Finance Technology leaders to ensure organizational goals are met Develop a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse Understand finance data lake/mart with data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, DBT, etc. Design, develop, implement, and maintain solutions for data ingestion and transformation projects Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent) Develop a roadmap and implement Revenue and Expense Analytical solutions Influence customers and stakeholders, and manage divergent expectations Implement and maintain a strong control and governance framework for SOX and Audit reviews Participate in Business and Technology discussions to align with long-term Finance and Technology goals Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with ERP solutions (e.g. Oracle, Workday, SAP or PeopleSoft) 3+ years of experience in FP&A applications (Preferred) 3+ years working with a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools Good understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling Strong knowledge of data processing/transformation using ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, DBT, etc. Strong SQL skills and ability to write, debug and optimize queries and ETL jobs Experience with Financials via major vendors (e.g. PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP) Finance domain expertise to translate process and functional needs into system solutions Understanding of FP&A Budgeting, Planning, and forecasting processes Experience implementing or supporting Revenue or Expense analytics via tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations Ability to communicate with users across Technology and Finance Knowledge of project management practices Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to excel in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of software development life cycle Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary
$115,000.00 - $260,000.00 per year The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Final offer is based on factors including scope, responsibilities, experience, location, and market conditions.
