Position:
Assistant Professor of Instruction (non‑tenure track; rank negotiable) – Freshman Engineering Adviser
The McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science plans to hire a continuing, full‑time Assistant Professor of Instruction to serve as a freshman adviser in undergraduate engineering. The adviser will support first‑year students in academic and career planning. In addition to advising duties, the adviser will teach three quarter‑length courses annually, emphasizing freshman design.
Responsibilities
Advise first‑year undergraduate engineering students on academic and career planning.
Teach three quarter‑length courses each academic year, focusing on freshman design.
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and student support activities.
Engage in service activities related to the freshman engineering program.
Qualifications
Doctorate in engineering required; a minimum of 3–5 years of academic or industry experience preferred.
Strong desire to work with undergraduate students.
Research interest in engineering education is a plus.

Compensation The expected base pay range is $85,000 – $93,000 for a nine‑month academic appointment. The salary is subject to negotiation and does not include summer salary. First‑year advisers receive 1.5 months of summer salary as part of their standard compensation.
