A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PRODUCE MANAGER As a Produce Manager, you have the artistic ability to present a collage of fresh, crisp, bright fruits and vegetables while maintaining organization and employee supervision within the department. To truly be successful in the position, you need to be thoughtful and passionate about your work and be able to lead a successful team. In this role, the produce department is your canvas, and you will enjoy creating a colorful masterpiece for your customers to enjoy. Main responsibilities
Provide high‑quality customer service aligned with company standards.
Train, schedule, and supervise produce clerks for optimal staffing.
Manage department budget and financial goals.
Execute weekly marketing and merchandising plans.
Perform daily inventory and order supplies to maintain stock levels.
Forecast weekly sales and track daily purchases.
Ensure freshness of produce through inspection, rotation, and crisping processes.
Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and labeling regulations.
Build and maintain produce displays and manage deliveries.
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the produce department.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following Soft Skills
Excellent verbal communication
Strong customer service orientation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Self‑motivated and driven
Professional demeanor when resolving customer concerns
Competencies
Leadership and team supervision
Inventory and budget management
Merchandising and marketing execution
Regulatory compliance (food safety, labeling, sanitation)
Knowledge
Understanding of produce handling and freshness standards
Familiarity with inventory systems and sales forecasting
Awareness of company policies and procedures
Abilities
Multitasking in a fast‑paced environment
Physical ability to lift, carry, push/pull produce and equipment
Ability to provide regular and predictable attendance
Ability to read and comprehend guidelines and instructions
