Job Description AECOM Advisory is seeking a dynamic
Manager (Managing Consultant/Engagement Manager)
to support our growing global Advisory business line. We recruit for locations: Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; Chicago, IL.
Building off AECOM’s considerable expertise in infrastructure design and implementation, AECOM Advisory is a trusted adviser to senior level clients and executive teams on their most pressing enterprise and strategic needs. Projects range from supporting the City of LA adopt their Citywide Housing Incentive Program (CHIP) Ordinance, developing SCAG’s Regional Resilience Toolkit, and conducting an Integrated Human Resources Plan for LADWP’s Power System.
We serve the full value chain of clients active in infrastructure, the built environment, and community vibrancy, including national governments, regulatory entities, city agencies, utilities, transit agencies, infrastructure operators and investors. Our team of 400 staff globally comprises business and policy analysts, economists, commercial strategists, technology architects, and human capital and change management practitioners.

Role As a manager in AECOM Advisory’s US West Region, your day‑to‑day role will be to architect, lead and manage client engagements. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
Building client relationships and managing interactions throughout the engagement lifecycle, bringing clients into engagement delivery and iteratively building their buy‑in.
Managing inputs from regional leadership, directors, client account managers, and technical experts to flag key delivery choices, considerations and risks as they relate to technical scope, client satisfaction, and commercial constraints.
Independently tailoring existing and proven analytical frameworks and methodologies for client‑specific needs.
Collaborating with leadership to architect new analytical frameworks and methodologies for novel client‑specific needs.
Driving the delivery team of 5–8 consultants and senior consultants across multiple inter‑dependent workstreams in areas such as: applying solution frameworks to deconstruct, dimensionalize, and analyze client problems; leveraging AI tools for baseline assessments and secondary research; conducting stakeholder interviews, including C‑suite clients; building custom discounted cash‑flow (DCF) Excel models for market sizing, segmentation, adoption, and investment analysis; leveraging analytical and data visualization tools (ArcGIS, Costar, IMPLAN, Python, Tableau); creating polished executive‑ready decks; synthesizing insights across formats; and coaching junior staff on consulting skills.
In addition, you will contribute to business development:
Supporting capture managers in proposal responses: narrative development, technical solutions development, pricing, team definition, subcontractor engagement, internal risk review, and compliance procedures.
Creating pitch decks and defining AECOM Advisory’s value proposition.
Bringing commercial acumen around client needs and budgetary requirements.
Required Competencies

Input‑output or general equilibrium modelling tools (Esmi, IMPLAN, REMI).
Statistical programming (Stata, R, Python).
Data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
Domain expertise in areas such as corporate strategy, performance improvement, corporate finance, technology‑led transformation, infrastructure investment appraisal, decarbonization, economic development, etc.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
At least 6 years of management consulting or corporate strategy experience, or equivalent.
Preferred: MBA or related master’s; fluency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with ArcGIS, Python, or R; strong technical skills in financial cashflows for public finance.

Compensation The range for this position is $135,000 to $170,000 per year, based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
