The Role: The Technical Writer will organize, plan and develop technical writing, in the areas of logistic engineering / maintenance and validation/verification activities for Military and Commercial Programs. Interface with clients on TM and Logistic Engineering issues under the direction of the Technical Writing Project Lead. The Technical Writer may be asked to validate procedures on vehicles.

What You’ll Do:

Develop technical writing procedures in support of a program to meet schedule and quality guidelines.

Ability to write a variety of technical manuals, training materials, and/or creating content for work packages.

Proficiency with publishing/page production tools (Arbor Text) and Interactive Authoring and Display Software (IADS) / Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development processes.

Possess a thorough understanding of the MIL‑STD’s (Mil‑Std40051 and S1000D) and quality requirements and produce technical manual procedures that meet these requirements.

Possess an understanding of the GM’s GSA, Techline Connect, Power‑Bi, IVED’s/Schematics, Global Doc’s, and MSID/PSID and quality requirements and produce technical manual procedures that meet these requirements.

Analyze and interpret engineering drawings and other technical data to translate information into technical documentation.

Ability to analyze basic systems and develop step‑by‑step troubleshooting procedures that systemically isolate faults and provide solutions.

Create graphics from Team Center / Math to support technical procedures following graphic standards.

Perform quality assurance support for document preparation and delivery.

Perform HANDS‑ON validation and verification of mechanical and diagnostic processes on vehicles/equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules.

Follow established plan to meet overall program objectives as defined by the program management and technical publications leadership.

Develop technical manual procedures in accordance with (IAW) the contract, SOW, and/or military standard.

Other duties as assigned.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

Accredited bachelor’s degree or at least four years progressively responsible experience in the area of technical writing and logistic engineering.

A minimum of two years of relevant Department of Defense Technical Writing experience.

Familiarity with performing troubleshooting and diagnostics on automotive, military, or mechanical systems.

Demonstrated mechanical ability in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and diagnostics.

Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Dependable attendance.

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Ability to climb, bend, and otherwise access all areas of commercial and military land vehicles.

Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. without assistance and up to 75 lbs. with assistance.

Ability to operate power and hand tools, hydraulic and manual jacks and other vehicle repair equipment.

Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.

Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Excellent interpersonal skills; must be able to work independently and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Ability obtain and maintain Common Access Card.

Candidate must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, asylee or refugee).

Eligible to obtain Secret U.S Security Clearance after hire.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

This position requires eligibility to access classified information at the Secret U.S. Security Clearance level for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. The successful candidate must have eligibility to access classified information at that level.
