Job Description and Duties Under general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently performs the more difficult accounting duties associated with financial cost accounting transactions, which require a broad understanding of Caltrans' accounting procedures, functions, multiple fund types, accounting systems, federal and state regulations, and the Local Assistance programs.

Working Conditions Position located at 1820 Alhambra Blvd, Sacramento, Sacramento County.
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans' evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Special Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.
Resume and college transcript is required.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in the accounts payable operations of an accounting office.
Knowledge and ability to analyze, identify and implement process improvements and customer service enhancements that result in streamlining work processes and efficient use of staff resources and system capabilities.
Reason logically and creatively, and effectively communicates orally and in writing.
Possess excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to act independently, use good judgment and exercise initiative.
