Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer

About the Company A full-service, tier-one automotive supplier specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components. The facility includes departments for lighting and mold design, production engineering, quality, assembly, sales, and customer service. How You Will Succeed

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and execute programs and policies to support world‑class EHS performance and compliance
Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and internal policies (including Hazard Communication, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, Machine Guarding, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, Arc Flash, ISO 14001, and more)
Prepare and submit compliance reports for regulatory agencies and customers
Establish EHS goals, metrics, and scorecards to drive performance improvement
Conduct root‑cause investigations for incidents and implement corrective actions
Oversee hazardous waste management, disposal, and PPE programs
Lead sustainability and carbon‑neutrality initiatives, data collection, and reporting
Develop and test emergency action plans (fire evacuation, chemical spills, severe weather, etc.)
Perform risk assessments to identify and mitigate environmental and safety hazards
Ensure contractor compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements
Manage workers’ compensation claims in coordination with third‑party administrators and legal counsel
Conduct internal audits, inspections, and training to strengthen EHS culture and compliance
Maintain accurate documentation, records, and reporting systems
Support continuous improvement through behavioral safety and engagement programs

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field
3–5 years of experience (minimum 2 years in a manufacturing environment)
Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and related safety/environmental laws
Knowledge of workers’ compensation regulations
Experience with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001) management systems
OSHA General Industry 10‑ or 30‑hour certification required
Experience leading multi‑site or 24/7 manufacturing operations
Forklift safety training experience
Ability to influence at all organizational levels
Preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent EHS certification
Experience with OSHA VPP and behavioral safety programs
