Job Details: Survey Crew Chief
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead field survey crews in performing boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA / NSPS surveys. This position requires strong leadership, technical skill, and an understanding of surveying methods, instrumentation, and data collection procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise field crews on a variety of survey projects, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
Conduct boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
Operate and maintain survey equipment including GPS receivers, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
Interpret engineering plans, plats, and legal descriptions for field layout and data collection.
Perform field calculations and verify field data accuracy before submission.
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and office staff regarding project status and issues.
Ensure compliance with company safety standards and field procedures.
Train and mentor junior crew members as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in surveying or civil engineering preferred.
Minimum of 3–5 years of field surveying experience, with at least 1–2 years in a crew chief role.
Proficiency with survey instruments (Trimble, Leica, or Topcon) and data collection software.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and terrain.
