Position Overview As a Counselor, you will play a crucial role in the recovery journey of our patients. Key Responsibilities
Provide orientation to new patients regarding the program’s rules, policies, procedures, and patients’ rights.
Conduct intakes, discharge planning, initial assessments, and initial treatment plans professionally and within time guidelines.
Involve patients in assessment, treatment planning, and intervention aspects of treatment.
Administer the biopsychosocial assessment at intake and on an ongoing basis.
Recognize and utilize patients’ Strengths, Needs, Ability, and Preferences (SNAP) to develop individualized treatment plans.
Determine the clinical necessity of counseling services based on assessment.
Monitor and document changes related to recovery, identifying relapse indicators.
Comply with Medical Q.A. and Clinical Risk Management Policies.
Provide counseling and referral services, including individual and group counseling, using CBT, MI, etc.
Schedule sessions, document entries, and maintain EHR records.
Engage in community relations and outreach efforts.
Attend training, case conferences, and complete required courses.
Collect research data and observe urine samples when required.
Attend team meetings and complete training courses timely.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in relevant field and required registration/credentials.
Kern County requires bachelor's degree or 75% certification education.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Salary Levels Counselor I: $20/hour to $21/hour
Counselor II: $21/hour to $24/hour
Counselor III: $24/hour to $27/hour (Certified) & $27/hour - $30/hour (Licensed)
Education
High School/GED or better (Required)
Technical/other training or better in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services or related field (Required)
Preferred Education
Masters or better in Psychology or related field
Bachelors or better in Psychology or related field
Associates or better in Human Services or related field
